Does anyone know if a 1320 was rated to use a 60" rotary brush mower?

Thanks!

Just for comparison, Bush Hog recommends 18 - 35 PTO HP for its 5' light-duty single spindle cutter. I think a 1320 is rated at 17 PTO HP. It doesn't mean that the cutter wouldn't work on the tractor, but it probably wouldn't cut 1" material (1" material is a standard for light-duty cutters) very well. It also might cut heavier brush only at pretty slow ground speeds. ....

I had a 750 with the same HP rating and a 4 ft brush cutter, (Pittsburgh). I would not go any larger with the brush cutter. You had to slow right down in tall grass although it cut trees fairly well. ....

Don,
I ran a freinds 5' bush hog on my JD 855 (24hp-engine). It had plenty of power but the mower was just too big and heavy for the tractor. Just picked up a JD 413 (48") cutter, much better fit. So I would suggest 4' max for your 1320. ....

I have a ford 1320 gear drive and have a 5 foot bushhog. I use it for custom mowing I have used a 6 foot it was to big the 5 foot works good even in tall stuff. I have used it for 8 years with no problems a 4 foot would be a little small. thanks ....

I have a TC29 with 29 engine HP and I use a 5' brush mower behind it. Thats all that I want behind it too. I really think that you would be more satisfied with the 4' brush mower. The 5 footer will work but it's going to be a handfull for your tractor and I think in the long run will provide alot more frustration than that extra 1 foot of cut is worth. Giving up 1' of cut will be easily gained back in ground spead and less abuse on your tractor. Just a thought and good luck to you. ....

I have found a old ford new holland implement chart and it recomends 5 foot model 951b it also list a 4 foot but says it will not cut the tracks of your tractor out. I have a New Holland tc33d and 5 foot King cutter it works good and I have used the same cutter with a 1320 it did good to I agree with Roddie 4 foot would be a little small. The back of a 1320 with turf tires is 57inch and the weight of a 1320 fwd is 2229 out of the book the 33d fwd is 2474 as for weight and size almost the same tractor 33d has more horepower Thanks. ....

This looks like an older thread but I couldn't resist putting in my two cents... I have a 1320 hydro 4x4 and run an older Howse 5' rotary cutter that I rebuilt. Most of what I cut is weeds (sometimes quite high) and occasional small brush under 1". The tractor does fine at about any speed in the medium gear range. I recommend a 5' for this tractor so you can cover the width of the tires. I personally think that this tractor is somewhat under-rated in terms of PTO HP but then again I guess numbers are numbers. I would get the 5' and then if/when you ever get a bigger tractor you should be set there too. I have not had any problems turning the 5' cutter but always use common sense too. I don't buy the earlier comment that you would loose any ground speed with a 5' compared to a 4'. If you did it would be insignificant and if your were worried about this small of a difference you are probably cutting for money and in this case should probably be using a larger tractor all together. Good luck, be safe and have fun!!!! ....
